Many Australian’s sense of reality has fallen apart after the shocking tragedy in Sydney over the weekend. The world we thought we were living in is not the world we’re actually in. It’s beyond words or understanding. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those killed during such a senseless attack, and those involved in the response. Looking at a beautiful terrace via @sixsensesrome tonight - as we continue the quest for sense-making in a chaotic and confusing world. We think life is much better with nature. Even if you don’t have a Mediterranean beach house perched on a cliff with scenic views, there are lots of ways to create relaxed outdoor get-togethers. Work with the seasons. A lunch in the middle of a great outdoor setting doesn’t need much more than the grass and sky for decor. Keep it simple. Make it look good. Don’t show off. Forget formality. Atmosphere is more important than fancy food. Great views can make us feel exhilarated. Who can pass a door or window without pausing and looking out? Who isn’t tempted to pay extra for a hotel room with an outlook? Meditative gazes beckoning us into landscapes; that peer onto pools where you can float like an angel, and private terraces that make your soul sing. However simple, the spaces that matter most are private gardens, terraces and open plan living rooms. All of these make us feel more connected. Even something as simple as a pergola slung between sky and ground, can be as important as indoor spaces.
